Upcoming News
This is my birthday month and here is what is new with me. I like to do challenges (my family would say it’s insanity) around my birthday. Why? As a reminder to myself that age is a number and to see where my limits currently are these days. So on January 22 I will start my 100 mile week (See Monthly Inspiration below as to who inspired me).

My goal is to run, hike and bike the miles each day. If you are doing the math that is around 15 miles a day. Present moment will be practiced as well as listening to my body. My mind wants to break each day down as to how many miles of each I will do each day. Do not want to limit myself. My goal is to run as many miles as I can each day.

I will be sharing part of this journey on my IG. If you are feeling inspired to run some miles with me please do and tag me on IG. Let’s run together virtually.

I will also be donating $5/mile to The Girls Gotta Run Foundation. Hard to believe it has been 2 years since I was part of the Bekoji 100 in Ethiopia with this amazing foundation.

Fueling Spotlight

Winter FuelingDuring the winter months when the air is cold I love to warm myself up before or after a run with this:

Bob’s Red Mill Organic Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats – 1 Serving
Nut butter (my fav is Picky Bars Drizzle) – 1 tbsp
Sprinkling of Flax Seed
Banana – 1 sliced
Soy Milk – 1/4 cup
My Favorite Toppings: blueberries, strawberries and/or chopped walnuts

The oats take 7 mins to cook and then let them stand for 2 mins. I often make more than one serving so all I have to do is heat some in the microwave for 30 secs.

Writing Prompts

Journaling PracticeIn January of 2019 I started the Wild Writing Certification Course with Laurie Wagner. Since then I have been journaling daily and a goal of mine this year is to start my own Running on Venti writing practice group (more on that later).

For me I love to journal after my morning meditation for about 20 mins while having my first cup of coffee for the day. Both meditation and this writing practice have allowed me to come back to myself more and more each day. If this is something you want to try or have a writing practice I will be sharing prompts here each month that are speaking to me right now.

A current one I am using is: Where am I staying comfortable

The key for this writing practice is to allow the pen to keep moving, allow for mistakes in grammar and say yes to what is coming (my fav line from Laurie Wagner). Let me know how this goes for you and ask me any questions.

Monthly Inspiration
As I talked about above, I recently watched a video posted by my good friend and creative Ethan Newberry (The Ginger Runner) about his 100 mile week he did in December.

Watching this really inspired me to want to do the same. Although his was all running, so at first I wasn’t going to do it. My body right now isn’t ready for a 100 miles of running in a week but then I got out of my head and into my heart and said to myself: What if I didn’t hold myself to only running? You see I reminded myself there are no rules.

Please watch his video. You might be inspired to do a challenge of your own.
